Korean - English Document Translation Services: CREDLOC

credential localization servicesQuotation and test translation

  1. Having linguistic engineers and project managers and linguists in-house*, CREDLOC does not disclose the source documents the potential clients submit to us for any purposes. To further expedite processes of exchanging source documents and preparing quotation, CREDLOC advises its potential clients enter into a mutual non-disclosure agreement with us – before submitting the source documents to us – in electronic form.
  2. For accurate quotation and lead time assessment, CREDLOC separates a) translatable text-based files from b) image-based (scanned) files.
  3. CREDLOC further separates c) image-based infographics off the translatable text-based files to further improve quotation accuracy.
  4. An in-house linguistic engineer comes into play at this point to accurately recognize character counts (word counts) of a) and c).
  5. Coming up with the exact amount of translatable characters (translating Korean, Chinese or Japanese into other languages) or words (translating English and Romance languages into a CJK language) at this point, the linguistic engineer works to exclude repeated segments from the quotation to optimize the translation price.
  6. At this point, it is safe to assume that none of the quoted texts are irrelevant or non-translatable. However, the linguistic engineer performs the “final visual inspection” of the source documents to make doubly sure that the translation project was not over-quoted at any of the above sequence.
  7. (for Korean to English / English to Korean translations only) While the source documents are analyzed as above, the in-house linguists* in a Translation Room in Seoul, Korea produce the test translation that helps the client make the right decision of working with CREDLOC.
  8. Hence, the client asking for a translation project quote will receive not only quotation sheet, but test translation result.
  9. * Language pairs between Korean and English.

credential localization servicesTranslation, editing and proofreading

  1. The project manager builds a termbase file using the client’s glossary; this termbase will be the first source of reference whenever the linguists look for the terms. Terms in the termbase will automatically be suggested to the linguists before they translate these terms based on another definition.
  2. Linguists in CREDLOC are not struggling working with the document formatting; bilingual DTP artists – who are also in-house in the CREDLOC offices in Seoul, Korea – come into play before, during, and after the documents are translated, edited and proofread and assist the linguists such that their maximum daily translation capacities are reached without fail.
  3. While translating, editing or proofreading the documents, linguists add to the termbase the definitions of terms they have used – this helps other linguists in the same project (and also the future linguists to be deployed to next phases of the project) maintain the term consistency.
  4. The final proofreading of the translated documents will be performed by the bilingual DTP artist who is fluent in both source and target languages, and professional at editing documents and DTP files.

credential localization servicesSubmission of deliverable translated files

  1. Once the translated documents are proofread, the project manager performs “technical review” of these documents to make sure the customer-specific requirements and term definitions are reflected.
  2. If the translated documents need desktop publishing, the proofread documents will be brought to the DTP artist again to make sure that the documents are ready for print out.
  3. A termbase is updated as translation progresses. Hence, the up-to-date termbase file will be included in the deliverable files and sent to the client.
  4. Also included in the deliverable files are translation memories, style guides and translation queries that are either produced or updated as translation progresses.

credential localization servicesClient-side feedback

  1. Client-side responses to the translation queries will be directed to linguists, DTP artists and/or linguistic engineers, all serving in-house* at the Translation Room in Seoul, Korea, as relevant to properly update the translated documents as desired by the client.
  2. * Language pairs between Korean and English.
